There’s something wonderful about learning the sex of your new unborn child and it’s natural for parents to get excited. The only bummer is that you can’t find out the sex of your child until you’re 16 to 20 weeks into your pregnancy, but that shouldn’t take the fun out of guessing if your child is a boy or a girl. With these ten fun ways, you don’t have to wait the 20 or 40 torturous weeks to know (or at least guess) the sex of your baby.
#1. Wedding-Ring-on-a-String Trick
Does the trick work 100%? Nah, but it’s too fun to overlook. And who knows -it might tell the truth. Just slip your ring on a string. Now, lie down and hold it over the bump. If the assembly swings like a pendulum, it’s a boy; a circular swinging motion equals a girl.
#2. Savory/Sour vs. Sweet
It’s well known that our little princesses are spice, sugar, and all things nice, which is perhaps the big reason why moms-to-be stuffing their mouths with lots of sweets are believed to be having a girl. If you are craving savory burger, steak or french fries, then you are probably having a boy.
#3. Child’s Heartbeat Rate
Telling the sex of your kid doesn’t have to cost lots of money. Here’s a fun and cheap way to guess. So, the next time you visit your OB doctor, ask him or her to listen to your baby’s heartbeat. If the heartbeat rate is lower than 140 bpm, you are going to have a boy. For 140 plus heartbeats per min, that’s a girl!
#2. The Shape of the Bump
Don’t ask me if it works or not — but it’s quite fun. This old wives tale suggests that round, ball-shaped bump implies that a baby boy is coming home soon. A wider bump that seems like you’re lugging around the world is definitely a baby girl!
#5. Mayan Sex Prediction Technique
Mayan surely loves their calendar. So, if the mom’s age at conception and the year of conception are both odd or even, it’s a girl. If one number is odd and the other is even, then it’s a boy.
#6. The Key Test
If the mom-to-be grabs the key by its round top part, a girl is coming. If she grabs the narrowest part, it’s a boy. Grabbing the middle part signifies twins!
#7. Chinese Gender Prediction Chart
This Chinese chart (available online) uses mom’s age at conception and the month you conceived to predict the sex of the baby.
#8. Pee Test
You’ve probably been taking lots of pee tests since inception. Why not try this one? Mix some Drano in your pee and check out the color change. Blue= boy while green = girl.
#9. Skin Check
If you’re breaking out with a lot of zits, it’s probably girl taking away a little of your beauty.
#10. Morning Sickness
If you’re having crazy morning sickness, then you’re probably expecting a girl. If you are experiencing little or no morning sickness, it’s a boy!!!
